Marilyn Bradley Glenbrook North High School Inducted 2017 Marilyn Bradley had been a member of the Illinois Athletic Directors Association for 22 years. In that time frame, Marilyn had served the IADA in number of capacities, including IADA State Conference Registration Chair, IADA State Conference Program chair, and served as IADA president in 1997-98.Previous to her 22 years in athletic administration at Glenbrook North High School, Marilyn taught and coached tennis, girls’ basketball, softball and volleyball at Glenbrook North. From 1979, she became the Assistant Athletic Director which is a position she held for 22 years prior to her retirement in 2001, she served on numerous IHSA committees, but her most important role was as an advocate for girls’ sports being added to high schools around the state. As a results she became a mentor and leader for so many teachers, coaches, and other athletic administrators at Glenbrook North and beyond. Jim Bloch, retired Athletic Director, remembers working with Marilyn and said “Teaming with her was one of the most fortunate happenings of my life – on a daily basis I watched her make a positive difference in the lives of students, families, the community, our league and IADA” Current Athletic Director at Glenbrook North, Bob Piper, states that “Marilyn has been an “unofficial” mentor to hundreds of athletic directors in Illinois, and someone who was constantly called upon for guidance by her peers across the state, Marilyn is very deserving of this award” Marilyn’s extensive contributions to high school athletics and her dedication to the IADA are a few of the many reasons that led Marilyn to this selection as a member of the Illinois Athletic Directors Association Hall of Fame. |
